His first crush

March 30, 2006

My son has developed quite a thing for one of the kids’ mothers at his daycare. Whenever she drops him off, he gets all excited and repeats “That Alexander’s Mommy” over and over. Then he proceeds to talk about her all day. And when she comes to pick him up, she’s met by Matthew at the door, not her own son. At least he has the sense not to blab about her all night to me when I get home.

Yes I’m jealous.

Bad Baby Shmore wouldn’t let us peek!

March 20, 2006

I can’t believe that after more than 30 minutes of poking and squishing that Baby Shmore wouldn’t reveal its secret and let us know what it is! It’s not like it wasn’t moving at all, quite the contrary; it was swimming, wiggling, kicking, waving, spreading its toes, and even mooned us, but it refused to open its legs for a peek. Sheesh! He/she definitely has an attitude already that’s for sure. As the technician was trying to take measurements, the baby would wiggle over towards the wand so she couldn’t get any numbers. She would move over to the other side, and sure enough Baby Shmore wiggled over there and made sure to get in the way there too. The technician must’ve said “Come on baby move out of the way” at least 3 or 4 times. Ha ha! She said she was guessing that it’s a girl, but if I couldn’t find a weiner either that would be my guess too! I have to go back in a couple of weeks because we couldn’t get a good look at the spine, so hopefully Baby Shmore will change its mind by then.

Sorry the updates have been slow in coming

March 19, 2006

We’ve been stuck in the house a lot, since I’m on doctor’s orders to lay down as much as possible (blood pressure is very high). So if I don’t go out, the guys tend to stay here and try to look after me. Not much opportunity for picture taking there!

On another note, there’s only one more sleep til our first ultrasound where we’ll hopefully find out if Baby Shmore is a girl or a boy. For those who have placed their “orders” on which sex, I’ll try to be accommodating but remember it’s kinda outta my hands! Ha ha! And I’m only having one…as far as I know.

Stay tuned for the results tomorrow!

Is Granny playing tricks on us?

March 6, 2006

I have never told Matthew this story, but when we were kids and Mom would try to sing to us, we always said to her “Mommy don’t sing” (her voice wasn’t THAT bad, but we still said it). So as the years went on it became an inside joke, she’d start singing and we’d all chime in “Mommy don’t sing!”. The past few days I’ve been singing to Matthew, and he’s come out and told me “Don’t sing Mommy”. OK not exactly the same thing, but close enough to be a little creepy.

For those of you out there that don’t believe in life after death you can go ahead and take this as a coincidence. But for those of you who do, or who’d like to believe, I’d say you can take this as a glimmer of hope that the ones we love never truly leave us.

Google ads are sending me mixed messages!

March 1, 2006

I just noticed the ads at the bottom of the blog: one is for “Hot Mommies Essential 3″ (nice to be included in that special club), but then the other one is for losing weight after baby. I’m so confused! Hot or not?

Made his own electric toothbrush

March 1, 2006

Matthew and I were brushing our teeth together yesterday morning, I with my Sonic Care brush and he with his kiddie manual brush. Normally I don’t turn mine on when we’re together (so he doesn’t get jealous) but yesterday I felt like an extra-good cleaning so I did it. He stopped and watched me the whole time. Once I was done and he checked my teeth (we always inspect each other’s work) he put his brush back in his mouth…and started humming. “Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” as he’s brushing back and forth! So perhaps we’ll have to invest in some sort of battery operated toothbrush for him. Or maybe I’ll just let him keep on humming cuz it’s way too cute!
